of the 4th Cycle 1100 | ![]() The Harsh Light of Truth ![]() | Issue 5 Packed with truth |
The province of Dellgate has been declared in a state of martial law as the sorely pressed authorities took drastic measures to try and maintain order in a rapidly degenerating situation. On the Second day of this cycle, Grullman Creed, head of the Militia deployed the depleted Dellgate Garrison onto the streets, teaming up with the local Militia to put a stop to scenes of hysteria and insanity spreading throughout the town. The threat from the Gith invasion exploded as a large infernal army, led by a demonic drow called Holosade was discovered, marching on Dellgate. As if appearing from nowhere the chaos force had remained cleverly hidden due to the distraction of the Gith. While the authorities did their best to keep this news quiet as to prevent hysteria, rumours eventually were confirmed by fortifications seen discretely being set in place. |
With the horrific serial killings of the last month and the immediate threat of war, a further killing sparked among the current atomsphere of fear and paranoia that cultists and other darker forces had already infiltrated Dellgate. With our absent Military returning from Mercian soil the desperation and helplessness twisted into a violent chain of flash riots as citizens clashed in pitch battles on the streets in what can only be described as a fit of madness. |
You may notice that my editorial is slightly larger this edition and believe me there is
good reason for this. I am disgusted by the bureaucratic idiocy of our beloved authorities.
You may or may not have heard but some evil and ignorant worm is trying to place blinders on
the harsh light of truth. An injunction made by the Courts has prevented your faithful gazette
from publishing the truth about the Marquis of Trafarian for fear of the revelations that we
would make. Under the dated, Ignorance of Lower Birth act, the Crown has deemed it ‘unfitting
for people to read information that is considered too delicate for the uncultured to digest in
a civilised manner’.

Continued from front page The Dellgate Militia was taken completely by surprise by escalation and intensity of the disturbance and became quickly overwhelmed by the outbreak of violence as they struggled to contain the rioters to the South side of the town. With further disorder erupting from the town square combined with the intensity and fervour of the rioters the Dellgate Garrison were immediately alerted and with the aid of the overwhelmed Militia and Adventurers Guild they fought hard to contain the rioters and bring the chaos under control. It is estimated that at least 100 arrests were made that day. When questioned as to the nature of the upheaval, rioters could not provide any just reason for their behaviour and it has been due to this that the authorities have labelled it a moment of madness. However it has been suggested that the very cults the people feared were the instigators behind the rioting. With the impending conflict (and perhaps some truth in cultist infiltration)the authorities decided that they could not cope with anymore upheaval, especially now that every able body will be needed to defend the town. Martial law has been declared and a curfew imposed at night. Dellgate is now considered one desperate military operation and those who are found not obeying the military’s orders and/or disrupting the work of the military will be view committing an act of treason and subject to the penalties of the offence. It seems that the infernal attack in Mercia (as reported last issue) is in no way an isolated incident. The unexplained invasion of the Gith and appearance the chaos army confirms that some unknown power has a hidden agenda. The unfortunate scenes on the streets have already shown that Dellgate is rattled and with only a few ships of troops returning in Drakeport the situation is dire. The hope of the military is that they can hold Dellgate long enough for Duke Nazgar and the Western Realms army to reach home soil. To Grullman Creed, the head of the Militia one thing is vitally important, ‘If the people cannot maintain order then we are lost. Organisation and implementation are primary. If we cannot hold it together now, what by Tempus will happen when we’re under siege? We can’t afford to spend time controlling our own, we’ve got a battle to fight.’ Leaked reports from the Archmages Conclave have furthered concerns that a string of events leading up to now, seem mysteriously related. This alludes to the notion that what is to transpire is either another step in an unholy plan or the final phase for some infernal scheme. Take heart good people for fear will be our downfall. Let that fear fuel your fire and be prepared to fight to the last.

Duke Lost at Sea
In the relative calm waters, the admiralty’s fleet of ships carried our valiant troops back
home when freak storms split the fleet apart; in which two boats have been confirmed as lost.
Speaking to the survivors of first few ships to return they all recount a similar tale of
calm waters suddenly whipping up into violent swells and raging winds. Captain Dante of the
Salty Dog, retold the terrifying ordeal, witnessing the ship next to him get struck by
lightening and tossed by gigantic waves into the bough of another boat. ‘I’was madnuss ou’ der. From nowheres came the mother of storms. No one was prepared, for ‘er, ships scattered in all directions. Tossed us loike dolls she did an’ men were swept overboard by ‘er watery gait. Masts broke under the strain of the gales and decks were pounded by the huge waves. We thought about trying to turn and rescue folk but me crew wuz ‘avin a hard enough time keeping her from going under ‘an striking the other ships. We sailed for hours before we out ran her and when I looked around I saw only the ships here now. I never saw nothing loike it.’ | ![]()
