Pitch Battle in Outlands

There is now a pitch battle going on in the Outlands. It seems that Nazgar’s forces have begun a major offensive in the area. The Outlands are now a battle zone between forces loyal to King Thorak and those loyal to the traitor former Duke, Nazgar. WRG reporters have been unable to learn how the battle is going as the area has now been sealed off by loyal forces. The local Militia has declared that no-one is to go into the Outlands unless they have specific permission from the authorities. The best information we can give you is that the loyal forces are perhaps outnumbered, but they may be using special units in the area and this may account for the success of loyal forces in holding the advance of the rebel forces some distance from Dellgate. We will keep you informed as best we can, but as you can imagine the authorities are trying to keep a tight lid on most information so as to maintain any advantage they can in a difficult situation.

Baron Cathkin falls

Baron Cathkin has fallen in fighting to the north. Word reached our offices early this week that the old Baron had been killed whilst leading troops in a rearguard action in one of the many battles being fought around Hohelem. Many had told the Baron that he should have been working in the rear of the troop formations at his age, but he constantly refused to manage food and healing, preferring to lead troops in the front line. He was a charismatic leader who will be sorely missed by the troops and the people at home alike. There has been some concern that with so many of the nobility away fighting there may be trouble on their estates, but as yet there has been very little.

Bane worship now serious threat.

The worship of the deity Bane, believed to be dead by many, has now become a serious threat to the safety of the Realms. It seems that a group of adventurers journeying into the Outlands shortly before the Nazgar’s forces made their attack, found that worshippers of Bane had set up a temple in the Outlands and were preparing to perform a ceremony to their foul god. Though they tried to prevent this ceremony, they were unable to stop the fanatical Banites. Many lost their lives trying. At the climax of the ceremony eyewitnesses report that a powerful creature was summoned which wielded great magic. This is another problem that the brave defenders of Dellgate could do without at the moment. With the number of threats in the region rising almost daily our thoughts go out to those brave people keeping us safe. We should also spare a though for those brave people who have already given their lives in our defence.

Little seen of Goblinoid tribes

Since the forces of Nazgar have made their advance into the Outlands there have been few sightings of the goblinoid tribes. Some are worried by their absence, but others are glad for having one less threat to deal with during this difficult time.

Dwarves buying food for long winter

The Dwarves seem to be buying an unusually large amount of food for this winter. Food prices are already high due to the Civil War, but the Dwarves seem for once to be less concerned by the high prices and are buying a large amount of non-perishable food for the winter ahead.

Rangers close in on Threat group

The Rangers are closing in on a group who have threatened them. Whilst we are not yet able to reveal all that our enquiries have revealed we can tell you that investigations by the rangers have resulted in progress being made. They are now planning the next stage of an operation which is taking valuable time from their other duties. We spoke to one Ranger who told us,"It is saddening that we have to spend time looking for traitors in our midst when we have so many other threats so close to us.

Fire in Docks causes minor damage

A fire in the docks area of Dellgate has caused minor damage to several warehouses. Though two of them were empty, another two held goods recently unloaded from ships in the port. Luckily for the town they were not essential food supplies, but it is thought that some goods may be unavailable for some time as the Civil War will make getting new supplies difficult.

Rumours of New Alliance

The rumours of a new Alliance have caused problems for the Elven Kingdom at a time when they are still working hard to heal the rifts caused by the Dreamer. If these rumours turn out to be true then it would mean that Elven attention could once again turn away from the threat of Nazgar to their own problems. This could be disastrous at this crucial time.
